The Promoters

Here's our insight into the people behind the music, the promoters who are bringing live music to this area...

the big coffee cafe bar

Rob Dixon is the owner of The Big Coffee Cafe Bar in Anlaby. Where throughout the summer you can hear both local and national performers playing acoustic sets

From when we first opened live music has always been a key part of the Big Coffee Cafe Bar. We are advocates of acoustic music and as the scene has grown, we have featured regular live acts on Thursday and Saturday nights. We make it our business to showcase a selection of artists playing to suit all musical tastes.

We constantly search for new talent and try to get a feel for performers with presence and song writing quality, so far we've been spot on. Both Andy Cornfoot and Jess Bannister were Hull Daily Mail talent trail winners and play here regularly. The atmosphere is relaxed but upbeat, a favourite with couples and groups of friends. The music starts at 8.30 and we serve food till 9.00pm. Our menu is tasty TEX- MEX based and a great fit with live music. We have just uncovered some great new talent as part of Viking FM's Summer Of Live Music so come along and enjoy!

eddie faulkner

Eddy Faulkner from Hull who is the lead singer and manager of the highly acclaimed tribute band, The Beautiful Couch www.thebeautifulcouch.co.uk Tribute to Hulls own Beautiful South and Housemartins.

Eddy has been in the entertainments business for over 15 years as a performer and formed Ed Entertainments Ltd back in October 2006, with a view to put on East Yorkshires first ever Glastonbury style music festival.

With his local knowledge and knowing many people in the business it seemed to be the right thing to do. “I love people and I love music the perfect recipe” said Eddy

Having searched the open fields of East Yorkshire, he finally found the ideal site” The Driffield Showground” Kellythorpe and Tribfest was born hosting the Tribfest Taster in January 07 at the Hull City Hall then the main festival held in August 07 over 3 days.

What is Tribfest?

  • There are many festivals across the UK but none quite like Tribfest.
  • It’s a budget festival so there’s no rip off prices.
  • This years Festival is only £60 for a weekend ticket including camping and a pint of beer £3, compare this to Glastonbury with a weekend Ticket price of £160 and the price of a pint at around £5.

So what’s the catch?

  • Well we have the Arctic Monkeys, Led Zeppelin, Queen you name it dead or alive Tribfest has 22 of Europe’s if not the worlds finest tribute bands performing classic hits from 5 decades of Rock/Pop music. Although you get the same feel as a big festival its affordable and a fantastic weekend.
  • Its not just about the music you get the full festival experience with the camping, beer tents, food stalls, VIP area, children’s area and an added bonus of the UKs top Lookalikes with David Brent, Laurel and Hardy and co which adds to the weekend party atmosphere.
  • Tribfest 07 was Brilliant and Tribfest 08 looks like it will take East Yorkshires by storm once again with a local stage with East Yorkshires up and coming Talent and lots more to do for the Kids also an estimated crowd of up to 5,000!
  • Once again it’s fantastic that we have Viking FM on board as our media sponsor.

Before we go do not forget The Tribfest Taster Hull City Hall Sat 17th May 08 over 4 hours of music with 4 Top Tribfest Tribute bands to the Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, U2 and Madness. Plus buy a ticket for The Tribfest Taster and save 15% on your festival ticket!

See you at Trib Fest!
